Non-Traditional Students

The Student Activities Center coordinates programs geared toward nontraditional students. The office sponsors National Non-Traditional Student Week events each fall, evening events where nontraditional students can get snacks and information, and family-friendly events such as Family Weekend and Boo Bash. Family weekend is filled with fun activities that appeal to all age groups. From pep rallies, tailgating, breakfast with the president and cheering on the Mean Green football team, there is something for everyone.
Who is a Non-Traditional Student?
The University of North Texas considers a non-traditional as any student currently enrolled who has either returned to higher education for the first time or after time away, typically non-traditional students are older than the traditional age and have some or all of the following characteristics:
- Enrolled and working at least part-time
- Commutes to campus
- Has children or family obligations
